I. Authority
In accordance with State Policy 2510, each school in Preston County shall establish a Student Assistance Team (SAT).
The SAT shall consist of at least three persons including
(a) school administrator, who shall serve as the chairperson;
(b) a current teacher;
(c) other appropriate professional staff.
Members of the SAT shall be trained in appropriate social service, instructional and behavioral intervention strategies and referral procedures annually.
(a) collect and maintain data on the activities of the team including dates of meetings, the individuals in attendance, the recommendations of the teams, the dates of review meetings and the results of the interventions.
(b) review, no later than one grading period after implementation, the effectiveness of the student assistance and/or instructional and/or behavioral interventions to determine the need for continuation, modification, and/or termination of the educational interventions or the need to refer for multidisciplinary evaluation and/or social service assistance, or alternative educational program
(c) invite parent(s) to review recommendations made by the team in regard to their child's program and provide feedback to the team about those recommendations.
(d) for students who have been referred for multidisciplinary evaluations and did not qualify for special education, and continue to exhibit educational difficulties, develop educational plans to include academic and/or behavioral interventions. These plans will be reviewed at least annually for their effectiveness and to determine the need for continuation, modiflcations, and/or termination of the educational interventions or refer for additional evaluations and other assistance.
(e) review student's eligibility information for students who qualify for special education prior to initial IEP and develop a current level of performance and initial suggested goals
(f) upon the decision of a referral for a multi-disciplinary evaluation, or social services assistance, or alternative education, the referral should be forwarded to the county office within ten school days.
The SAT may:
