Special education is the term assigned to the individualized instructional plans and related services provided for students with disabilities.
It is the policy of the school board to strive to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities through the provision of services and resources. The intent it to assure all students receive a free appropriate public education.
The following goals, in addition to such regulations as the superintendent may approve that are consistent with State and Federal Regulations, shall apply to the special education program:
2. Selection of students for the classes will be governed by the regulations established by the State Board of Education and/or the supervisory and instructional personnel of the school district;
3. These students shall not be isolated from their peers but shall be encouraged through various means to participate in activities which might expect reasonable success;
4. All efforts shall be directed to placing these students in an appropriate academic setting based on their individual needs.
